Guangzhou Medical University (GMU) founded in 1958 has been imparting quality medical education with programs like Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) for international students since 2010. The MBBS program taught in English for six years is in strict adherence to the quality standards of the Ministry of Education (MOE), China. Department and Courses offered
GMU has 15 schools, eight affiliated hospitals, and 11 indirectly affiliated hospitals specializing in primary care, cardiovascular diseases, neuropathy, respiratory diseases, gynecology and obstetrics, cancer, dental care, rehabilitation, and minimally invasive surgery. GMU offers 19 full-time undergraduate programs like medicine, dentistry, nursing, clinical, continuing education, vocational health, and technical education at its main campus located in downtown Guangzhou City. New campus to further enhance the university’s facilities is also under construction.
You can apply to the Guangzhou Medical University through a simple online process. After completing the application, you will need to mail the completed form to GMU along with essential documents like schooling and college certificate copies, passport photo, photocopy of a valid passport and health certificate as per the university’s admissions criteria. Applicants for this program must be under the age of 30, without a criminal record.
The university will process the student’s documents within a few weeks and intimate the status of admission to the students by email. No entrance exam scores or donations are accepted at this university.
Admissions to GMU start during May with the first semester of the MBBS course starting in August-September. The basic tuition fees amount to RMB 30,000 per annum. The total cost including tuition, hostel, permits, and insurance is RMB 38,000. Students will then be required to buy textbooks at the actual charge. Needy students may even avail government-funded scholarships.
As a part of the six-year program, enrolled students are required to complete a one-year internship to obtain their degree. Before the internship, students need to reach 3rd level HSK (Mandarin Language) proficiency. Internships may be taken up in the eight affiliated hospitals of GMU with a total of 12,000 beds.
After obtaining MBBS Degree, the graduates can apply to take the medical licensing examination in a medical council like the Medical Council of India (MCI) or their respective countries in order to get registered and practice medicine.
